Great news from Varsity Girls Track Coach Rufus Shepard. On Saturday, January 24, Alexandra Greaves captured the League II title in the 55meter dash in a time of 7.38. TeammateAllysia Jones finished in second-place with a time of 7.46, and Antoinette Miller finished in 6th, running 7.67. In more great news from the League II meet: Shelbi Wuss was a double medal winner. Scoring points in both the 1500meter and the 3000meter. The 4x200meter Relay team of Alexandra Greaves, Amani Howard, Antoinette Miller and Allysia Jones finished second in a time of 1:50.8. The 4 x 400meter Relay team of Shelbi Wuss, Katelyn Neuman, Elisabeth Auguste, and Gabrielle Ramierez ran a personal best of 4:34. Lauren Connolly pole-vaulted a personal best of 7' 6" this year, and senior captainElizabeth Auguste tripled-jumped a personal best 33' 11" and finished 4th-place in the league. The large school championship was held this past Sunday (2/1).Here are the results: Alexandra Greaves ran another personal best in the 55m dash (7.34) She is now ranked #4 in the county. If she finishes in the top 3 at The State Qualifier Meet (2/8), she will represent section XI in the the State Meet. Shelbi Wuss ran a personal best and set a school record in the indoor 3000m run (11:11.24).The record was previously held by Lauren Hoffman (2014) Gabby Ramirez improved on her record-breaking time in the 1000m run (3:21.49) Looks like our winter track teams are ready for this Sunday’s (2/8) Boys and Girls Section XI Championship State Qualifer Meet at Suffolk County Community College (Brentwood Campus).
