We heard from coach Steve Greco this week about his Varsity Girls Volleyball team. Lindenhurst may be playoff-bound, but Whitman had no trouble defeating them for the second time this season last Friday night. The Wildcats won three games to one (19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18).
It was senior night, and the last regular season home game for our two seniors, Catherine Ledbetter (11) and Emma Kongevold (2) who were honored on the court before the match began.
In the Lindenhurst win, Emma totaled 17 kills, 4 aces and 10 digs on the night to lead the team. Her last kill gave her the single season kill record. She also earlier this season set the single game kills record and has the most kills in a career with 482. Junior Olivia Poplawski had 36 assists and 3 aces, Sophomore Cayleigh Delgado had 4 kills and 5 blocks, Sophomore Maelyn Latko had 4 aces and 20 digs and Freshman Ally DeGaray had 16 kills and 13 digs.
Great work by the whole team and congratulations to Emma and Catherine on great careers with the Whitman Volleyball Program!
