Walt Whitman Principal John Murphy presented the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Students Award of Excellence this morning to James Reilly. Joining the principal was Assistant Principal Jon Varlamos and Director of Guidance Ms. Leah Lugovina.“This medical conference presented an incredible opportunity to listen and meet some of the top doctors and medical scientists in the nation,” said James. “It helps students get a clearer picture of which field of medicine may interest them most.” Spending a week at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell this past summer, James is still leaning towards the Neurosurgical field.“I’m enjoying the diversity and opportunities here at Whitman,” said the Whitman junior, who plays the Tuba in the Marching Band, the Trombone in the Jazz Band, and is a member of the Whitman’s literary magazine Xanadu. “I really enjoy reading and writing, almost as much as everything else,” said James about his yen for the literary world. Congratulations James Reilly for embracing all that Whitman has to offer and working hard to move his goals closer to reality.
