On Friday June 2nd over 35 athletes from South Huntington traveled to Mitchell Field Athletic Complex to compete in the 2017 Empire State Games Victory challenge. Athletes competed in a variety of Track and Field events and were awarded 38 gold medals, 19 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals.“We would like to say thank you to SEPTA, Dr. Wright and the athletic department and to all of the parents, teachers and coaches that made this day possible,” saidRory Sherman, Physical Education teacher at Silas Wood 6th Grade Center. “Thank you as well to Mrs. Lay from Oakwood and Maplewood teachers Mr. Winters, Mrs. Garafolo, and Ms. Huss for all their support.
