This past Saturday, the family of Harry P. Kent held a tree dedication ceremony at Silas Wood in honor of the retired former principal. With the support of the District, a beautiful tree was planted on the front lawn of Silas Wood. Harry Kent passed away in the spring and his son John and daughter Rose helped lead a short and touching ceremony that included remarks from Dr. David Bennardo, Dr. Emily Rogers, and two of Mr. Kent’s grandchildren. Theresa Kent spoke lovingly about her grandfather who was born in New York City in 1929. Edward Kent read a poem that held significant meaning to his grandfather. Harry Kent’s wife Theresa, surrounded by family completed the planting and the audience concluded the ceremony singing ‘When Irish Eyes are Smiling,” led by Tom Kelsh.
