Walt Whitman students from the Spanish 10 and Spanish 9H classes went on a delicious field trip as a way to reinforce the food unit that is part of their Spanish curriculum. The students have learned Spanish food vocabulary and verbs as well as ingredients needed for food preparation. In their class, the students created a recipe project that used all the words they learned in the chapter. This field trip takes the learning a step further and allows the students to get a hands-on learning experience in the kitchen. Once at Ala Carte Culinary Services in Lynbrook, the students delved into authentic Spanish cuisine and worked as a team to prepare a magnificent meal. After the meal was cooked, everyone got to enjoy the delicious and authentic meal they worked so hard to prepare.
What a great memory that our students can now take home and share with family and friends, hint hint!
