Our two September Athletes of the Month are the epitome of team players. The Boys Soccer and Field Hockey teams are having successful seasons and choosing only one of the incredible athletes on these teams was a difficult choice. But Amanda Glaser and Michael Lorello have both distinguished themselves as leaders both on and off the field.
As a center midfielder Amanda excels on defense and has been credited with 5 goals, but it’s her teamwork that has awarded her many assists on the season so far. Amanda also excels in softball, both for Whitman and her travel team. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Girls Leaders Organization, and is looking forward to Girls Sports Night on February 25th. Amanda is hoping to attend SUNY Cortland next year where she would love to play field hockey.
Michael Lorello and his teammates are having a good season. “We are moving closer to our goal,” said the midfielder who has been scoring more that he’s accustomed to. “I’m primarily concerned with getting the ball up top for Witman [Hernandez] and my other teammates to score but with the defenders focusing on them, they are freeing me up to score.” Michael is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society and has in the past played Basketball for the Wildcats. Next fall, Michael will be playing soccer for the Red Foxes of Marist College.
