Walt Whitman has two distinguished students who have been named as commended students to the National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Misha Patel and JoonHo Ko.
Misha is presently in the middle of her final year playing tennis for the Wildcats and will be back on the badminton court in the spring. She is the Vice President of Competition for DECA and a member of the Whitman Mathletes team. “DECA is a great way for students to be involved and learn about business without having to take business classes,” said Misha. “DECA really helps with presentation skills and to be more outgoing.” Misha is fine-tuning her search for colleges to best prepare her for becoming a physician. She also predicts that the senior girls will win the Powder Puff football game on Thursday night, October 8th Go seniors!
For Joonho Ko, a top player on the men’s tennis team, and a leader of the Wildcat Mathletes team, his fall has been spent concentrating on applying to colleges and narrowing the field. MIT is still his top pick. Joon is also a member of the Whitman Jazz Band and plays the Euphonium in the Concert Band. His National Merit Commendation was a pleasant surprise. Joon was recently featured for his nomination to the All-National Honors Concert Band.
Congratulations Misha Patel and JoonHo Ko.
