It wasn’t that long ago that the College Board cancelled Advanced Placement Italian classes due to severe budget constraints across the nation. Now, the College Board, who administers Advanced Placement courses, has secured funding and promoted the return of Advanced Placement Italian, and it’s more popular than ever. At a reception held at the Italian Embassy last week, Walt Whitman’s very own Italian/AP Italian teacher Ms. Manuela Stefanelli-Fasano received an award from the Consulate General of Italy for her excellence and dedication in preparing students for the AP exam. “It made me feel good to be recognized and to know that AP Italian is really taking off,” said Whitman's 18-year veteran teacher. “I’m glad for the students because they really love the culture, the heritage, and the language, and they want to continue on in college, I’m proud of our school.” CongratulationsMs. Manuela Stefanelli-Fasano!
